Hobbes "State of Nature, Social Contract"
- Like the French Revolution, Hobbes believed in power to a King, but a limited amount of power- Wanted a relationship between people and King but not by divine right. The King of France was taking taxes and money for his own good and needed to be limited to a constitution.
- People believed they needed a constitution that outlined their natural rights to govern their birth rights.
- Believed the economy needed to change to be more succesful.

Locke "Majority Rule"
- During the French Revolution people believed that they should have more right in what they say (majority rule)
- The King must live under the constitution

Montesquieu "Different forms of Government and Separation of Powers"
-The country divided into three forms of government (see Crane Briton Model- Old Regime)
-The country needed more separation of powers instead of all powers to one King who could do whatever he wanted (triggered revolution)
-Went against French Monarchy including schools and religon

Diderot "People are Teachable"
- Napoleon Bonaparte

Rousseau"Social Contract enforcement"
- After the French went up in arms against the French government they needed a "forced social contract" ; therefore, the social contract would outline the duties, limits and obligation of the people and the government

Voltaire "Enlightened Despotism"
- Related to the French Revolution because a new government in accordance with Enlightenment thinking will reform the country after poorly administered self rule and bad monarchy

Adam Smith "Economy"
- The monarchy before the French Revolution was taking money from peasants, wealthy people and all citizens in France for their own good
- In relation to what Adam Smith believes, the government should protect private property ownership and the economy
